The right agent depends on what’s actually burning. Use this as a starting point — for a binding spec, send us your site details and we’ll confirm.
Class A
Solids
Paper, wood, fabric, plastics. Best controlled with water-based agents, foam or ABC dry powder.
Class B
Flammable liquids
Petrol, oils, solvents. Foam, BC/ABC powder and CO₂ all work — match to the volume and ventilation.
Class C
Flammable gases
LPG, methane. Shut off supply first; BC/ABC powders are the standard suppression agents.
Class D
Combustible metals
Magnesium, sodium, titanium. Specialist agents only — never water. Talk to us before specifying.
Class E
Electrical risk
Live panels, server rooms, switchgear. CO₂ and clean agents are the default; never water-based.
Class F
Cooking oils
Deep-fat fryers and commercial kitchens. Wet chemical is the only agent rated for these fires.
Refill the original spec
Every extinguisher is rated for a specific agent and pressure. We refill to the unit’s original spec and update the service record so the rating on the bottle still matches what’s inside.
Don’t mix agents
Different dry powders are not chemically compatible. Mixing them in a recharge can clog valves and reduce discharge — when in doubt, replace rather than top up.
